This course will be offered to the students who have studied Bengali upto Xth or XIIth standard and passed the level with Bengali as a subject. The course will be taught to students who have opted for the language as a Disc-I subject and will be offered in all the 8 semesters starting from the Ist semester onwards. While preparing the syllabi, the changing scenario of studying literature has been taken into account. A holistic approach towards the study focuses on the Language and its history, Literature, theory and criticism. There will be 20 papers in 8 semesters. In semesters I-IV, there will be two papers/semester. From semester-V onwards, three papers/semester will be taught. These include Research Methodology in the XVIIth (17th) paper, semester VII and one Research paper in XXth. There would be 4 periods per week for each paper and one presentation by the students/week

APPLIED COURSES

This course will be offered to students from 2nd semester onwards. 5 papers will be distributed in semester 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6. This course aims at providing application-skills and encourages the students to know the practical use of the language i.e. in media, internet, films etc. It enables the students of the language to earn their livelihood using the tool of language. The first paper in AC-I will be offered to both Bengali and Non-Bengali students. 2 periods and I presentation per week will be taken. The syllabus will be distributed over 5 semesters as follows:
