Computer Science and Engineering Department
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Manipur was formed in 2010. The Department provides outstanding teaching and research environment. The major areas of research include Image Processing, Artificial Intelligence, Genetic Algorithms, Fuzzy Systems & Neural Networks, Computer Networking, Network Security, Algorithms, Computational Geometry. The Department offers B.Tech only at present and the M.Tech and Ph.D programs are likely to open soon. The Department has a comprehensive curriculum on topics related to all aspects of Computer Hardware and Software with an emphasis on practical learning.
Electronics and Communication Engineering Department
The Department of Electronic and Communication Engineering was established in the year 2010.It is a full-fledged academic department for emerging ECE engineers. The Department offers a 4 years B.Tech. course an intake of 30 students. The Department has simulation software and laboratories such as Basic electronic lab, Digital electronic lab, Microprocessor lab, Electronic & electrical measurement lab, Computer lab, PSPICE simulation lab, Labview software, etc. The Department has an objective to produce quality engineers to meet the ever growing demand for technical manpower in the communication technology and in the industrial arena. The Ministry of Human Resources Development India recognized the department and funded the NIT Manipur.
Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department
The department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering is a well established department with adequate numbers of qualified faculties. It offers a 4 years (8 Semesters) B.E. course (with an intake of 30 students. Started in the year 2010, the graduate course in Electrical and Electronics Engineering encompasses the various aspects of Electrical and Electronics fields such as power Electronics, Control System, Solid State Relays and Protection, Microprocessor Application and Computer Application to Power System Studies, High Voltage Studies. The Department has simulation softwares and laboratories such as, Power System Simulation Lab, Circuits and simulation Lab, Microprocessor Lab,control system lab, Matlab software, PSPICE simulation software, Labview software and Hardware kit etc.
Humanities and Basic Sciences Department
The Department of Humanities and Basic Sciences was established in the year 2010 with the opening the Institute. At present it comprises of subjects English, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Civil Engineering. It has 6 faculty members (1 on deputation and 5 on contract basis) and 1 technical assistant (contract basis).
