A workshop on the Green mantras @ DTU: The next solar destination for University Industry interaction was organized by Dr. J. P Kesari, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering under the patronage of Prof. P. B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor DTU. A DTU chapter of Solar Energy Society of India, a new M.Tech course in Renewable Energy Technology and DTU Solar Mission were launched during this program.
Welcoming the delegates Dr. Kesari emphasised that India needs to shift from Conventional fuels to non polluting Renewable sources of energy to meet future demand for electricity. While addressing the gathering Prof. P. B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU said that Solar is the prime free source of inexhaustible energy available to all and India is one of the Suns most favoured nations, blessed with about 5000 TWH of solar energy every year. He also added that renewable energy has the potential to re-energize Indias economy by creating millions of new jobs, allowing the country to achieve energy independence, reduce its trade deficit and propel it forward as a Green Nation.
Shri Rajinder Kumar Kaura, CMD Bergen Group highlighted the need of accelerating the demand for renewable energy and establishing R&D facilities within academia, research institutions, industry, government and empowerment of teachers and encouragement of students towards implementation of Solar Technology Nationwide. Shri. Arun Mishra Vice President of Maharishi Solar Technology, Shri Jagat Jawa, DG and Shri. Praful Pathak, SG of Solar Energy Society of India also deliberated in this program.
The Solar Energy Society of India distributed the membership certificates to the students.
