Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University was established in 2003 in the city of Vijayapura (Formerly Bijapur) and was formerly known as Karnataka State Women’s University. It is the only Women’s University in Karnataka dedicated exclusively to women’s education. Akkamahadevi Women’s University has adopted the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) Scheme. KSWU offers The University offers various UG programmes leading to Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Business Administration, Computer Applications, Commerce, Education, Fashion Technology, Home Science, Physical Education, Science and Social Work. KSWU Admission Process
The admission in Karnataka State Women’s University is based on merit list or counselling as per the University norms. But in the case of MCA and MBA, the admission is done through an Entrance Test conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), Bengaluru. Students who wish to take admission in various other PG courses or PG Diploma courses (other than MCA & MBA) of KSWU have to submit the online application form. A student must fill the application form and submit it along with the required fees and documents to the Chairpersons of the concerned Department before the last date. The entrance exam for MCA and MBA is conducted in the KSWU campus only.
KSWU Scholarship
KSWU also provide scholarship facilities for the students who are studying there. This post-matric scholarship opportunity is given to various departments which are the Social Welfare Department, Tribal Welfare Department, AYUSH Department, Medical Education Department, Minorities Welfare and the Technical Education Department. This scholarship helps them to pay the university fees on time without any issue.

- Dr. B R Ambedkar Studies Centre – The Centre is established with funding from the UGC. The centre is engaged in propagating, popularizing and publishing the ideas of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
- Bhaskara Chair – The chair has been instituted with the financial support from the Department of Science and Technology, GOK, Bengaluru, for the promotion of mathematics in the region and to conduct regular training to the teachers of Mathematics of primary, secondary and high schools of the district.
- Centre for Yoga Studies – This centre offers Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Studies & Certificate Course. Yoga is a way of living.
