North Maharashtra University (NMU) – established on 15 August 1990 under the Maharashtra Universities Act, XXIX of 1989. The University is located in Jalgaon. NMU started it academic and administrative functioning from 1991-92. The university is extended over three districts Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar and rural area of Khandesh region. In 2001 the university was awarded the four-star grade. In 2009, B grade with 2.88 CGPA and A grade with 3.11 CGPA in 3rd cycle re-accreditation in the year 2015 by NAAC Bangalore.
NMU main campus is located 8 km away from Jalgaon. There is 04 University recognized Research Institutes / Centres and 220 Affiliated colleges. The University has been granted autonomous status by UGC, New Delhi Board and Government of Maharashtra. NMU mission is to impart relevant quality higher education to the students and grooming them to be conscious, researchers, professionals and citizens, technologies, bearing the torch for disseminating knowledge in masses for suitable socio-economic development of the society.

There is eight faculty that covers various UG / PG / M.Phil / PhD programmes in campus and affiliated colleges. The University has 13 schools and one institute imparting education in 62-Post Graduate, 11-Undergraduate, and 37-PhD programmes.
