Cochin University of Science and Technology was established in the year 1971 and named as University of Cochin. The University of Cochin was later reorganized as Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in February 1986. It is located in Cochin, Kerala, India. CUSAT offers 27 teaching departments under the nine faculties namely Engineering, Environmental Studies, Humanities, Law, Marine Sciences, Medical Sciences & Technology, Science, Social Sciences and Technology. CUSAT Admission Process
All admissions in CUSAT are based on online Common Admission Test (CAT) and Departmental Admission Test (DAT) conducted by the University. Interested students can apply for admission online at the official website. For M.Tech. admission, preference will be given to the candidate with valid GATE score. M.Tech. (Non-GATE) candidates should attend a Departmental Admission Test (DAT) conducted by the department concerned, which will be conducted if a sufficient number of GATE candidates are not available.
For admissions to M Phil/Ph.D./PDF/Diploma/Certificate programs in CUSAT, candidates should not apply online through the official portal. The application for these courses will be available from the Departments concerned. The University also conducts online Lateral Entry Test (LET) for those candidates who take admission in 2nd year or 3rd year of any course. Desired candidates are advised to submit the application form for admission and requisite fees on or before the last date. No application forms shall be entertained after the last date.

CUSAT Facilities
CUSAT provides various facilities for the students, staff and guests. The list for the same is given below.
- Hostels – Hostel accommodation for around 600 male and 700 female students is available for Undergraduate/ Postgraduate / Research students.
- Library – The Cochin University Library was established in 1975. At present the collection exceeds 95,000 inclusive of several valuable reference books, doctoral theses and back volumes of periodicals, patents, CD-ROM etc. The Library offers Loan service, Inter-Library Loan, Literature Search, Compilation of Bibliographies, Reprographic Service, Conference Alert Service, New Addition Alert Service and Consultancy Service.
