IIM Raipur LogoStone Laying Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur is on Sunday May 5, 2013. The campus will be a state of art campus presenting a blissful mix of modern architecture, campus and heritage of Chhattisgarh.

Dr. M.M.Pallam Raju, Hon’ble minister of HRD, GoI, has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest of the occasion and will lay the foundation stone of IIM Raipur. Dr Raman Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister has kindly consented to preside over the function.

Speaking of the upcoming campus the Director Prof. B.S. Sahay said, “The state of the art campus planned at Naya Raipur will be a blend of modernity and cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh. The campus will depict modern architecture and assimilate the culture and traditions of Chhattisgarh. This will bring us one step closer to its vision of:

  • A world class institute with global outlook imbedded with regional and national focus.
  • An institute par excellence, which will be known for outstanding value based quality education, high quality research, executive education, consultancy and strong corporate as well as international linkages..
  • A B-school, which will serve the society, the state and the nation for economic growth and prosperity.”

The Foundation stone would be laid in the august presence of Shri Ram Vichar Netam, Hon’ble Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Chhattisgarh.

The Director in the Press Conference said, “IIM is a world brand that values excellence. We have always strived to achieve this goal. Excellence will reflect through the upcoming campus. We want the Campus to be known for its beauty, architecture and state of the art facilities.”

Shri Ramesh Bais, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), and Shri Bhushan Lal Jangde, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) will also be present on the occasion.  Shri. Hari S. Bhartia, Hon’ble Chairman, BoG , IIM Raipur will deliver welcome address. Shri Ramesh Bais, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Shri Bhushan Lal Jangde, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Shri Ram Vichar Netam, Hon’ble Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Chhattisgarh will also address the gathering.

This would be followed by the presidential address of Dr. Raman Singh and the address by the Chief Guest Shri M.M.Pallam, Hon’ble Minister of HRD. Prof. B.S.Sahay, Hon’ble Director IIM Raipur will give his vote of thanks.

Speaking about the occasion the Director IIM Raipur remarked, “It is day when we reiterate our commitment to contribute to the growth and development of the region and the nation. The State Government has been very encouraging since day one and we hope that it continues its support in the years to come. ”

IIM Raipur in all its activities aims to become an institute par excellence known for outstanding value based quality education, high quality research, executive education, consultancy and strong corporate as well as international linkages.

Informing about the courses offered at IIM Raipur the director said, “The Institute has been set up by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) in 2010. The Institute aims to groom ethical leaders who are not only committed to business, commerce and industry but also contribute towards nation building and bring laurels to the country world-wide. In such a pursuit, the Institute offers a Post Graduate Programme, a Doctoral programme, executive education and consulting services to Government, Public and Private sector and other Organizations.”

The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) which is the flagship programme of IIM Raipur started in 2010 with an aim to provide overall development of the students and groom them as future leaders to successfully face the challenge of global competition and dynamic market scenario.

The Institute started the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) from academic year 2012-13. Being a full-time doctoral programme it offers research scholars opportunities for advanced studies and research in different area of ‘management’ as well as carry out interdisciplinary  research.  The Programme develops scholars into academicians with prowess in teaching and research. At present four students are being trained as scholars. This number will increase owing to the commitment of the institute to high quality research as well as the encouraging response it has got from the research enthusiasts.

The Institute also started its Executive Fellow Program in Management (EFPM), which is a unique doctoral programme in management specifically designed for working professionals with more than 10 years of work experience in industry. The major aim is to produce excellent researcher and bring up academicians who have a strong practical experience of the corporate world. This is because it is held that Management education can be effective if the people with their real life experiences are brought to the academic forefront. The Programme also brings industry and academia close to each other by offering prospects of a full time/part time career within academia or in research positions outside the academia world. The response to such a program has been huge with people from various different backgrounds, industry and research orientations joining the first batch.

IIM Raipur stands committed to its goal of partnering the state in its development. The Post Graduate Programme in Management for Working Executive (PGPWE) is one such endeavour which is designed for mid/senior level professionals to enhance skills and capabilities essential for managerial positions. It is an intensive one and a half year post graduate program in management, the focus of which is to enable and develop managers that understand global embedness and requirements of their organisations as well as also understand the intricacies of business at functional and strategic levels. The program also has given a special emphasis on emerging economies which have enormous potential and business opportunities. The first batch of this program has given a tremendous feedback on the program and the Institute is keen on starting the second batch this year.

The Institute also strives to bring a global perspective to all programmes and activities in a fast changing global economic environment. The Institute encourages appropriate mix of overseas exposure for its students, which will help them to assimilate management practices and understand the importance of cross cultural issues in managing the business, trade and industry. In order to achieve this objective, IIM Raipur has signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ (MoU) with some of the finest business schools in the world. This extends to four areas of student exchange, faculty exchange, research and joint conferences/seminars.
