Gondwana University was established in 2011 in the city of Gadchiroli in Maharashtra state in India. It is named after Gondwana region in central India. On July 23, 2010 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly passed a resolution to constitute the Gondwana University, for the area comprising districts of Chandrapur and Gadchiroli. The University Offers admission various Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctorate programmes in various departments. Gondwana University is the only one University after Mumbai University in Maharashtra which has adopted the semester system for all its courses from the first year.
