King George’s Medical University (KGMU), formerly known as Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University, is Medical University located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. KGMU was established in 1905. The college was completed and the work of the first medical session was started in 1911 through the opening ceremony which was delayed to January 1912. KGMU offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral Course. KGMU conducts entrance examination for admission in B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing and DH / DM. And also KGMU AIDMMChEE is conducted for admission to DM / MCh courses in KGMU. The university is recognised by University Grant Commission (UGC) aand Medical Council of India (MCI). The university campus is spread over an area of roughly 100,000 sq metres. National Assesment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) gives KGMU “A” Grade of Certification. he College buildings consisted of a fine Administrative Block, an Anatomical block, a combined Pathological and Physiological block and a Medico-Legal Department. On Septermber 2002 an Act was passed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh resulting in a major change of the institution in conversting and upgrading it as Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University. In 2003, the Government of Uttar Pradesh rever the name of the medical university from Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University (CSMMU) to King George’s Medical University (KGMU).
