Presidency University – was established on January 20, 1817, 201 years ago as Hindoo College. The University is located in College Street, Kolkata. The Hindoo College was transformed into “Presidency College of Bengal” in 1855. The Institution was elevated to University status in 2010. Earlier, the university was functioning as a constituent college under the University of Calcutta. The Admission to Presidency College is based on the entrance examination. Students have to qualify the exam. Presidency University offers various courses under UG and PG programmes. There is a total of 16 departments organized by the University.
