Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) was established under the South Gujarat University Act, 1965 passed by the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly. The University started functioning in the academic year 1966. It was incorporated as a University on May 23, 1967. In 1968 VNSGU was recognized by the University Grant Commission (UGC). The university was renamed Veer Narmad South Gujarat University in 2004. VNSGU offers Under Graduate, Post Graduate, Diploma, Certificate and Ph.D. programmes. Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU)
The University jurisdiction is extended to the seven districts of Navasari, Dangs, Surat, Bharuch and Tapi and the union territory of Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. There are 25 PG departments/institutes on the University campus. VNSGU offers 95 programmes with multiple specializations including 19 M.Phil and 19 PhD programmes in the University.
