Aditya Dhar
Name: | Aditya Dhar |
Course: | B.E. Environment |
College: | Delhi College of Engineering |
Year of Placement: | 2010 |
Company: | The Smart Cube |
Package offered: | 5.5 LPA |
Preparations: | The Smart Cubes is basically a KPO/consulting firm so nothing specifically ‘core’ here. I mainly studied online case-studies, puzzles and guesstimates. |
Books Referred: | No as such |
Websites Referred: | vault.com is an informative source for business edu related stuff, also check out case studies of the company. Google everything else for cases, estimates and stuff. |
Group Discussion and PI preparation: | Not exactly!!! |
Eligibility Criteria: | The eligibility criterion laid down was 60%. 250 students were present for the written round on basis of eligibility. |
The Written round: | The written round had aptitude and personality development related questions. Mainly General awareness, GK, and the staple CAT type questions. |
The Group Discussion Round: | There were 10 students to each GD group. We were given arbitrary topics:-Delhi CWG a failure or success
-Vada Pav vs Mcdonalds (mine) and the like |
The Interview: | Questions asked were sort of technical as well as HR. Three type of questions here (not exactly “tech”):-Profile related (I was grilled on clean-tech, carbon finance and policies)
-Company business specific (Questions and my views of the Indian retail scene) -Case studies and guesstimates (try googling) HR related: Again the regular volley about your aspirations, your career alignment with the company at hand Caution: You sometimes might be subjected to a “stress interview”, wherein supposedly absurd questions like “What is the weight of the room we are sitting in?” and “Estimate the number of hair on your head” may be asked. (Personal experience) Solution is to think out loud and give out a logical line of thinking to your supposed solution, there is no “right answer” here, neither have they known of!!! |
Role of Internships and extracurricular activities: | They do help; can help you to steer your interview to the comfortable territory of your experience garnered in your interns/trainings, gives you sensible matter to talk about. You need to have done something “considerable” while in college to prove your initiative taking abilities and leadership skills. More the merrier! |
