Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) was established on April 22, 2006, by an Act of the Andhra Pradesh State to meet the higher education needs of East & West Godavari districts. It is located in Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh, India. AKNU consists of six colleges and campus namely – University College of Arts & Commerce, University College of Engineering, University College of Education, University College of Science & Technology, Adikavi Nannaya University MSN Campus and Adikavi Nannaya University Campus, Tadepalligudem catering to the needs of students. The University offers various Under Graduate, Post Graduate, and Professional courses. There are 34 teaching departments under the University Colleges. Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU)
AKNU was named after the first poet of Telugu culture, Nannaya (the eleventh-century translator of Mahabharata from Sanskrit to Telugu), the court poet of Rajah Rajah Narendra,(the Eastern Chalukya King). The University has a total of 442 Course-wise Affiliated Colleges in East and West Godavari districts including Campus Colleges at Rajahmahendravaram, Kakinada and Tadepalligudem under its umbrella. AKNU Admission Process
Admission to Adikavi Nannaya University is based on marks obtained in the entrance examination. The University conducts PG Common Entrance Test (NANNAYA CET) for admissions into various PG courses offered on its Campus, PG Centers and affiliated colleges. Application forms are available online at the official website. Interested students are advised to fill and submit the application forms on or before the last date along with the application fees.
AKNU Colleges
The University Colleges, also known as Campus Colleges are located within the University Campus. There are about four such colleges with 34 departments. The list for the same is given below.
- College of Arts & Commerce – An integrated college of Arts, Science and Commerce was established in 2006. Later College of Arts & Commerce was carved out of the same in the year 2012. The College has 8 departments organizing 9 courses covering disciplines like Management Studies, Humanities, and social and Behavioral Sciences.
- College of Science & Technology – Adikavi Nannaya University was founded in the year 2006 by an Act (No.28 of 2006) of Andhra Pradesh State Legislature on 22nd April 2006 and has started its functioning with six academic programs. By 2008 five more academic programs were added and all these programs were brought under a common umbrella i.e., University college. Later in the year 2012 the University College has been split into four individual colleges namely University College of Arts and Commerce, University College of Science and Technology, University College of Education and University College of Engineering. At present the college offers twelve PG Programs, six Ph.d programs, two certificate programs and one PG Diploma program.
- College of Engineering – University College of Engineering, Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajahmahendravaram was established to serve the academic needs of the students of Godavari Districts in the frontiers of Technical Education.
- College of Education – The University College of Education in Adikavi Nannaya University established in 2014 is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education, Bangalore with an annual intake of 100 students. The mode of admission is through the Education Common Entrance Test (APEDCET) conducted by the government of Andhra Pradesh.
- Adikavi Nannaya University MSN Campus – The Adikavi Nannaya University MSN Campus, (Erstwhile Andhra University MSN Campus) Kakinada lies on the East coast in the East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India. The campus has been carefully nurtured in academic and service activities since its establishment in November 1977.
- Adikavi Nannaya University Campus, Tadepalligudem – Adikavi Nannaya University Campus, Tadepalligudem was established in the year 2004. Prior to 06-04-2017, this Campus was under the administrative control of Andhra University, Visakhapatnam.
