Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) is a state university located in Rajamahendravaram (Rajahmundry), East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. Established on April 22, 2006, through the Government of Andhra Pradesh Act No. 28 of 2006, it is named after Nannayabhatta, the first poet of Telugu literature. AKNU is recognised by the UGC and accredited by NAAC with a B+ grade. The university caters to the higher education needs of East and West Godavari Districts.
Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU)
AKNU was named after the first poet of Telugu culture, Nannaya (the eleventh-century translator of Mahabharata from Sanskrit to Telugu), the court poet of Rajah Rajah Narendra (the Eastern Chalukya King). The University has a total of 442 course-wise affiliated colleges in East and West Godavari districts including Campus Colleges at Rajamahendravaram, Kakinada and Tadepalligudem. AKNU Admission Process
Admission to Adikavi Nannaya University is based on marks obtained in the entrance examination. The University conducts PG Common Entrance Test (NANNAYA CET) for admissions into various PG courses offered on its Campus, PG Centers and affiliated colleges. Application forms are available online at the official website. Interested students are advised to fill and submit the application forms on or before the last date along with the application fees.
AKNU Colleges
The University Colleges, also known as Campus Colleges are located within the University Campus. There are about four such colleges with 34 departments. The list for the same is given below.
- College of Arts & Commerce – An integrated college of Arts, Science and Commerce was established in 2006. Later College of Arts & Commerce was carved out of the same in the year 2012. The College has 8 departments organizing 9 courses covering disciplines like Management Studies, Humanities, and social and Behavioral Sciences.
- College of Science & Technology – Established in 2006, the college was later separated in 2012. It currently offers twelve PG Programs, six Ph.D programs, two certificate programs and one PG Diploma program.
- College of Engineering – University College of Engineering, Adikavi Nannaya University, Rajamahendravaram was established to serve the academic needs of the students of Godavari Districts in the frontiers of Technical Education.
- College of Education – The University College of Education established in 2014 is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education, Bangalore with an annual intake of 100 students. Admission is through APEDCET.
- Adikavi Nannaya University MSN Campus – Located in Kakinada, East Godavari District. The campus has been active in academic and service activities since its establishment in November 1977.
- Adikavi Nannaya University Campus, Tadepalligudem – Established in 2004. Prior to 06-04-2017, this Campus was under the administrative control of Andhra University, Visakhapatnam.
