Preparations: | It was more of interest and hobby in programming and algorithms than anything else that drove me to code and practice. It was , I will say , result of somewhat slow but steady coding that got me through interviews in MS . some basic C study , some clichéd interview question was all that I studied, nothing more . |

The Written round: | Written round consisted of two section .First section contained objective C questions and other one consisted of subjective questions. Questions were of normal difficulty and required clear basics in C language and logical thinking. I cleared written section with comfortably good marks . |
The Interview: | Well , There were 4 interview round , all tech , no HR round . Well , interviews were interesting as i enjoyed all of them , and they did ask question almost all the topics . Questions were not that difficult but they wanted you to be able to code whatever logic you proposed. They focused on optimizations , correctness and complexity of the code. While in some cases ,they kept changing the initial problem that I was given ,while in others i was asked to optimized. Question ranged from linked list to graphs to trees to operating system to C understanding. Some puzzles were also asked during the interview. |
Role of Internships and extracurricular activities: | Well , the role of internship and extra co-curricular activities cannot be judged just for the Placements in any way. They help you grow as a person and a professional. Well, I did my internship at the Royal Bank of Scotland and I can tell you that the industrial exposure there was more than i could have expected and it helped me grow. People there, with whom i worked , were elite and experienced in their field of work. I learnt a lot from them.
As far as Extra co-curricular activities are concerned, I would say that, more than anything else , they help you build you personality and shape you the way you are right now. So they are in important, more important than those bullet points they will form in your resume. You can get a certi , but you cant get experience. That is, in my opinion, invaluable. |
